Zipcar currently (2019) has a fleet of 12,000+ vehicles.
Why are there no ZipCars?
Most ZipCars are spread evenly between locations and in a popular ones you can only reserve something available a few days in advance. This makes the idea of using ZipCar useless because now you need to waste an hour of your time commuting to a remote ZipCar location.

How long can I keep a Zipcar?
You can reserve a Zipcar for as little as one hour or as long as 14 days at a time. Reservations can be made in half-hour increments. When booking, keep in mind that your Zipcar is available for others to reserve before and after your reservation.
Can you smoke in zipcars?
Smoking is absolutely prohibited in Zipcar vehicles. Pets are too, unless they are transported in locked pet carriers. Members are subject to fees if evidence of smoking or pets is found in Zipcar vehicles.
Are zipcars dirty?
Zipcars are regularly inspected and cleaned, but we also rely on our members to keep the vehicles clean during bookings and report when they are left dirty. There is no smoking allowed in Zipcars, as smoke or other strong scents can impact the health of other members.

Does Zipcar pay for gas?
We are happy to pay for gas, but we count on members to fuel the vehicles. Every Zipcar has a gas card in the visor above the driver’s seat that should be used when fueling the vehicle. Your Zipcar needs to be left with at least 1/4 tank of gas, no matter how much it had at the start of the reservation.
Can my spouse drive my Zipcar?
Only active members are allowed to drive Zipcars. Other members can drive a Zipcar that you reserve if they are on your family plan or account, but if a member on a different account is driving a Zipcar that you reserve, we ask that you be along for the ride.
